3D Imaging

3D imaging plays a large part for patient care when it comes to oral surgery.

CBCT ( Cone Beam CT) is a device that is used in the office to provide 3D images in order to help diagnose and treat many different conditions.

This machine will provide significantly less radiation than a medical grade CT machine and still provide a more clear image.

In certain cases the surgeon can elect to take an image that is focused only on one region to also help reduce radiation.

Prior to having a dental implant placed, 3D imaging is typically done to help  plan the surgery with more detail. Radiographic imaging can also be used to look at different types of anatomy when it comes to wisdom teeth as well. 3D imaging along with intra-oral imaging can be done to help fabricate surgical guides for the doctor to assist in precise and accurate implant placement.

These are just a few of the indications for imaging and each patient will discuss with their doctor if indicated for their procedure.
