WHAT IS BONE GRAFTING

Different types of bone grafting and preservation techniques can be used when preparing for a dental implant.

Missing teeth over an extended period will often cause bone loss, causing inadequate bone volume for implant placement. Adding bone at the time of removal of the tooth is a discussion that you should have with your Doctor to see if you’re a candidate. This can help down the road when deciding for a dental implant. Patients with severe loss of bone and or severe medical conditions may not be candidates for dental implants. The Doctor will discuss your case specifically with you during the consultation and provide to you all options for treatment. This will give us the opportunity to place implants to restore function and aesthetics in the best way possible.

Socket Preservation

Bone defects from tooth removal can be prevented and repaired by a
procedure called socket preservation. The tooth is removed and the hole is filled with bone and other materials to aid in preserving the region. With this method we can predictably place dental implants in the future. The preserved bone in the socket provides a foundation for your future dental implant.
